Roughly 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for information.
An important representative said the attack made him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
